"For Colored Girls" Theater Production
 

The Black Arts & Cultural Center’s (BACC) theater troupe "Ali Players" presents, "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf".  Structurally, the play is a series of poems, collectively called a "choreopoem”, written by Ntozake Shange.  Shange’s poetry expresses the many struggles and obstacles that African-American women face throughout their lives. It is performed by a cast of seven women characters, each of whom is known only by a color: "Lady in Yellow," "Lady in Purple," etc. The poems deal with love, abandonment, the power of womanhood and a host of issues that women deal with in general. Show times & dates are: February 17, 18, 24, & 25 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday February 26, at 2:00 p.m. For more information call 269-349-1035.
