Event: 'African American Book Read'

BACC
Black Arts Cultural Center
Date: Wednesday, October 01, 2008 At 08:00 AM

The BACC and the community are currently reading, "The Color of Water" by James McBride.  The Color of Water originated as a 1982 Mother's Day piece for The Boston Globe.  Positive response to the newspaper story presuaded McBride to work on a book.  In this remarkable memoir, McBride's mother tells in her own words the story of her past.  Around her narative, James McBride has written a powerful portrait of growing up, a meditation on race and identity, and poignant, beautifully crafted hymn from a son to his mother.
