Black Arts Cultural Center
Date: Sunday, February 26, 2012 At 02:00 PM
Duration: 2 Hours

The Black Arts & Cultural Center’s (BACC) theater troupe "Ali Players" presents, "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf".  Structurally, the play is a series of poems, collectively called a "choreopoem”, written by Ntozake Shange.  Shange’s poetry expresses the many struggles and obstacles that African-American women face throughout their lives. It is performed by a cast of seven women characters, each of whom is known only by a color: "Lady in Yellow," "Lady in Purple," etc. The poems deal with love, abandonment, the power of womanhood and a host of issues that women deal with in general.  Tickets are $15 each or $12 for BACC members/seniors/students.  Call 269-349-1035 for group rates or more information.  The play contains adult language and themes.
