Let's Talk About Youth Violence Open Forum
The Black Arts & Cultural Center (BACC) with the Jeeter’s Leaders will host an open youth forum for High School age youth on Monday, March 23, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. The forum will be held at the Black Arts & Cultural Center located at 359 S. Kalamazoo Mall in the Epic Center on the second floor in Suite 202.Youth can join their peers in a dynamic talk to help fix the problem of youth violence. Local community members will be there to hear how they can help.
This is the third in a series of youth forums that are lead by youth for youth. Although adults are allowed at the forum, only the youth are there to discuss the topic. The forum is facilitated by one adult and up to two high school age youth.
The youth also have an opportunity to take what they have learned from each forum and produce a form of art that expresses their opinion. The BACC will connect them with a professional fine or performing artist to assist with the development of the piece. A competition will be held at the end of the school year and they have the opportunity to win $150, $100 or $50.
